PREFACE

WELCOME TO THE WINTER 2020 VOLUME!

Never in a  million years did I expect the journal to gain so much publicity so early on. Within less than a month of establishment, we gained over a hundred submissions and 800 + followers on Twitter, and I couldn’t be more grateful for all of you. Really– the inner little girl in me is squealing!

Since I started devouring poetry, I always felt something compelling about surrealism. Works that inspired me all had some sort of ethereal quality about them, something that I would later coin surreal.  So, I decided to create a journal that aims to celebrate that very genre. Thus, The Aurora Journal was born to indulge your mind in the surreal, the ethereal, and the dreamy. 

  I am so happy with the outcome of this first volume. It took a lot of time and dedication and I want to thank each and every writer who submitted. It was truly a joy to savor your words. I also want to thank the dedicated editors and staff who worked so hard to ensure the quality of this volume. So many people were a part of this project, and I couldn't be more thankful. 

Most importantly, I want to thank you, the reader, for supporting The Aurora Journal for all that we do. Among these pages, you will find a surreal collection of hand-picked poems and prose from insanely talented writers. I sincerely hope you enjoy reading.
